Reserve your spaceMy journey with yoga began unexpectedly. When I was 17, after graduating from university, I was in a car accident where three cervical vertebrae were displaced, causing cervical listesis. Besides wearing a neck brace, I lost some range of motion in my upper body, and the problem radiated to my limbs. At that time, since I couldn't participate in high-impact sports, I signed up for yoga classes to improve my mobility. That's how I met Raúl Vasquez, who has been my Hatha Yoga teacher ever since.
Initially, my yoga practice was primarily physical, to alleviate chronic back, sciatic, and neck pain. As I entered my twenties, I began long-distance running—10, 15, and 21 kilometers—so yoga became an exercise that helped me regain flexibility after many strides on the asphalt. Over time, unexpectedly, yoga went from being a therapeutic exercise to a spiritual companion on my life's journey.
Between work, responsibilities, moving to different countries, and very little time for myself, I collapsed in 2020. My mother passed away unexpectedly in Venezuela while I was in exile in the Dominican Republic, in the midst of the COVID pandemic. The pain was immense, and the emptiness was overwhelming. I felt like my life had lost its meaning. It was daily practice that helped me get out of bed and overcome the inertia. Yoga became a bridge between physical emptiness and spiritual depth. It connected me with a greater purpose that taught me to breathe when I felt I couldn't, to hold on when everything inside me wanted to run away, and to find a small piece of peace in the midst of chaos. With time and the help of many wonderful people, I healed wounds, reframed traumas, and explored new perspectives that led me to feel a deep connection with myself and with God. Yoga didn't take away the pain, but it gave me tools to navigate it and emerge transformed. In the process, I connect with a greater purpose: to guide others through yoga who, like me, need a calm space to work through physical and/or emotional pain. Yoga heals physically, emotionally, and spiritually, and that's why my desire is to share this practice with all those who want to be transformed by its power. Doing yoga empowers us, fills us with acceptance and love, and expands our consciousness.
In 2022, I felt the calling to become a certified yoga teacher. I did so through an online school in India. Later, I founded Pranava’s Moments in the Dominican Republic, a space created with love to serve all those seeking transformation and well-being through yoga. Today, my company is located in the USA and is called Yoga Pranava's, and its purpose remains the same: to be a bridge of transformation for others through the practice of yoga. This calling was born in my heart and has since expanded over the years like waves of love to reach everyone who wants to begin their journey of awakening through yoga. My dharma is for the love of yoga and through yoga.
In 2023, I fulfilled a great dream: to go to India. I did so with my beloved Michelle Badillo and Asha Ramakrishna. There, in addition to visiting wonderful places, we had the opportunity to connect with the ancestral wisdom of this Mother Earth that welcomes all spiritual seekers into her embrace. On that trip, I came to understand that all this time my Mother had been guiding me through yoga. In 2024, I returned to India with my loved ones, this time with a deeper purpose: to learn from local Gurus about their worldview, to visit Mysore, the cradle of modern yoga, to attend classes with a teacher from the Tirumalai Krishnamacharya lineage, and to experience staying in an ashram and receiving teachings from the Srividiya Tantra lineage. Since then, I have followed this calling, studying with different Masters to learn more, including Gurumaa from India, my beloved teacher Mataji Shiva with the Yoga Master, and Kalki Das in Vedic Astrology.
Today I live in the United States, combining my work as a consultant with my passion for service through yoga. I created this space, Yoga Pranava’s, to reach more people who, like me, want to cultivate their inner growth, move their bodies with awareness, and find well-being through balance. I know that stress, the fast-paced way we live, the excessive demands placed on productivity that overwhelm our feelings and limits, coupled with a culture of the ephemeral and instant gratification, leave us increasingly tired and with a horrible feeling that we're not accomplishing anything. Therefore, from this space, I want to help people cultivate calm, gentleness, and slowness by integrating yoga into their lives, adapted to their individual circumstances. It doesn't matter if your purpose is physical, emotional, spiritual, or if you're simply curious to have a space for yourself, a place to breathe. Here, we are real people, with real lives, applying sacred ancestral wisdom to our reality, with the purpose of cultivating our peace of mind. With love and the certainty that yoga is not a performance of a perfect life or acrobatics, but rather the gateway to consciously transforming our lives day by day, are you ready to take the first step with me?
My purpose is to honor this path with humility, share what I've learned, and help people transform their lives through yoga with love and gentleness. Thank you for being here!
